Hp compaq 6715s hdd replacement

It is maybe 10 years old but I want to boost it a bit. I am thinking of a harddisk replacement, compile times are too long, hardly runs lubuntu, worse lite. Where to buy a compatible and fast harddisk ? Maybe ram too though I think 2gigs are fine.

Looks like it has a SATA drive, any SATA drive will be fine for it. You can get a cheaper 120 GB solid state drive, will make a big difference in speed. 2 GB is not a lot for RAM at all, especially for anything modern. Crucial has a good utility to check for compatible RAM.
