Please help me guys. HP giving 8 hr battery life. i don't know about Asus.
Please help me to find my baby.

1st laptop is

The Asus has a better discrete graphics processing unit than the Intel one on the HP laptop. The Asus has a 5400 RPM drive and the HP has a 7200RPM drive, other things pretty well equal except price the Asus is less expensive. Looking at the details on the HP it has up to 3.5 hours. You would only get incresed batery life igf you purchased the extended capacity battery. The Asus has a 2 year warrantee and the HP has a one year warrantee. HP laptops are not has reliable as tbe Asus.

Very timely post. I'm looking at these 2 laptops, also! For the record, the dv6-2170us comes with the 12-cell battery as opposed to the dv6-2150us, which comes with the 6-cell.

I have been unsuccessful finding battery life estimates for the ASUS, though. Given it's a 6-cell, I'd peg it at around 4 hours, give or take. The ASUS is about a half pound lighter, but neither are exactly lightweights. The extra weight, though, is probably coming from the larger battery.

Tough call, man. Pros and cons with both. Right now, I'm leaning toward the ASUS, but I keep changing my mind.

Foget HP! Worst customer service- they don't care about their customers! My story about my desktop is too long to discuss here, but I'm thinking about a new Asus laptop, NOT HP because of their horrible customer service. Better warranty on the Asus too.

well i tell you Asus, because the hp will limit youself with the intel hd grafics...
as always people buy a pc just observing the processor speed and then when they got home and try some app or game..
puff crying...
no matter if your not gonna be gaming but it increase the performance for many usefull tasks...

I too am looking at both. And at this time are still having problems deciding. As I see it the HP has a 7200 rpm hard drive and bluetooth, while the Asus only has a 5400 rpm hard drive. I still don't know enough about Asus other then they make there own motherboard and graphic cards. But on the other hand HP has been around for a long time. I will check back to see other comments as I am in the same boat.

I just bought the HP- DV6-2170us. The specs are better and the HP comes with the new i5core processor. The new processors have turbo boost and threading tehcnology which enable it to act like quad core processors. I would go with the HP. This is a powerful computer with some great features for entertainment. The screen is crisp and beautiful as well. I do not know much about Asus, but when your buying a laptop of this capacity i would go for the HP.

The ASUS has the i5 as well , and has a dedicated ATI card with DirectX 11 support. it might not have a 7200 rpm drive (5400rpm isn't really a deal-killer compared to the lack of full gpu support through the HP), but who needs a HDD anyway? i'm upgrading it to a SSD soon enough.

I just ordered the A52JR-X1

I'm looking around and I haven't seen much as far as support for extended batteries for the ASUS, but I'm just going to call them once I get it tomorrow and register it etc. etc.

For the shake of system stability, 5400rpm HD can also be positive, 'cause slower HDs generate less heat, which is very helpful when you use your laptop on your lap (you get it, laptop)

Yes, and we all know how hot HP laptops get, even without a 7200 RPM hard drive. They're poorly designed. I would have went with the Asus, their warranty speaks for itself.
