Why you want to buy a laptop for gaming? You'll spend more or less $1000 and you know how fast tech gets expired in Gaming. You buy a new laptop Today, you never know the next game you're up to play will supports your laptop's dedicated graphics card or not!

I suggest go for Xbox or PlayStation. Even XboxOne / PS4 are way too cheap to buy nowadays. If I'm not wrong, the prices of New XboxOne & PS4 are in between $400-$500.

Make yourself future proof

Cheers.

oh and by the way, I own an hp envy 15, which has the same 2GB dedicated graphics card Nvidia 740M. I havn't played much games on it, but I've tried The Sims3 on it and IT DOES get HOT even if you start the game. And heat is always annoying. I'm not much into gaming on laptops, but so far I've studied it, Nvidia 740M is a pretty good "Medium Range" laptop graphics card.

If you really want to buy a laptop, then I would suggest a laptop with Core i7 (Quad Core), NOT Dual Core. I think the one you mentioned above has a Dual Core 'Core i7 processor'.

Make sure the processor model number has a "Q" in it, like this "4700MQ or 4702MQ or 4802MQ" etc. --- 4 represents the Intel 4th Generation Haswell Processors, which are the best ofcourse. Quad Core processors can offer the BEST performance as compared to dual core processors.

Hope this helps.
