I'm fixing a laptop for someone where the screen will not light up. The backlight appears to be out. However I cannot find a backlight anywhere for it and the screen appears to be all one piece once you take it apart. The converter and the light seem to all be in the monitor since all that connects to the motherboard is the one wire from the monitor.

I've replaced the entire screen and it still will not light up.

It is an LED screen.
Anyone have any ideas?

Laptop is an HP g6-1d45dx

That almost sounds like a bad inverter, but I don't think inverters are used for LED screens. Are you positive it's an LED backlit screen rather than a CCFL backlit screen?

If you're sure it's an LED screen, then you may need to consider replacing the video cable.
If the LEDs aren't powered then it's easier to swap the panel out, rather than disassmeble it, source compatible LEDs, replace the bad ones, reassemble the screen, and reinstall it into the laptop.

Try the hotkey Warukyure suggested, or whichever the actual hotkey is for display toggle, to make sure the output is set to the internal screen, and not to external output (though I don't think this will work).

I've already swapped the panels out. The LEDs seem to be built into the screen so I figured they would be replaced when I replaced the panel. The screen doesn't even light on post. You have to shine a flashlight to know that it is on at all.
