Hi all i need some help i am about 70% sure i know what it is but my friend has a HP G62-341nr laptop and his screen comes on bright most of the time and then does dark, but you can faintly see things so i think it is the backlight. Now the problem is Hp cant label the part right, in their specs they say it is an LED with no mention of it having a backlight and almost everyhere else the screen with the same part number is an LCD. I just need to make sure it is the backlight or the inverter he took it to fry's and they told him to replace the screen so he shelled out $100 for the screen and $150 for them to fix it, i thought it was the backlight from the start, any help would be awesome. Thanks guys and gals

Hi, LCD means liquid crystal display, the screen will have a CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamp) or LED (light emitting diode) for the source of light. Your model have LED in your LCD display, so it doesn't have an inverter.

so what would be the problem because it has a brand new screen in it

yeah it comes on bright then goes dim after a few minutes but it has a very faint picture. So it could be the fuse that powers the LED bulb?

Yes it could be different components on the motherboard, or it could be a software problem. I found one schematic for your laptop but two manufacturers made it, I'm looking for the other one.

i did see on some sites that it could be the LCD power cable, could be causing the problem, now is that on the motherboard or would the new screen rule that out?

HP is well known to have problem with their video section, graphic chips or like you the screen. But for your problem let me sleep on it and I will come back to you with what I found so far.

thanks man i really appreciate it

Hi, what I need from you is to find if your model is 1.1 or 1.2, I know it is a HP G62-341NR but you maybe a revision 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2. Because the model 1.1 has an inverter circuit, the screen has a CCFL for the 1.1 only. I don't know where you will find the revision, under the laptop on a label or it will be printed on the motherboard itself.

on the sticker where the model number is it says Rev:1444-110. is that it?
