Hp laptop configuration problem

Help! I turned my laptop on and it keeps showing "configuring 3 of 1, do not turn off computer". Then it shuts down after few minutes and it restarts again to the same message and reboots again and configures all over again! How do I fix this?

Hi

Press F8 as starting..choose SAFE MODE and restore to BEFORE you did the windows updates...

Thanks Brett but when I pressed F8, then Safe Mode, my PC shut down on its own again and then when it came back on, it brought me back to the "Configuring 3 of 1" status again. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
