Solved! Hp Laptop Headphone Jack Broken

I have a star wars special edition laptop and its headphone jack has stopped working. I tried putting a cocktail stick in it and my laptop recognises it as headphones. However whenever i put a normal headphone cable in, it doesn't recognise it. Is there anything i am able to do to fix this.

If the jack is broken, then you might need to get a USB audio adapter.

If you are lucky, is just dust ball and needs cleaning. Plug goes in mushy?

I you pulled the cord rough like enough force to drop the laptop, that cubby maybe damaged and difficult to repair, do what ^he says.
