Yes HP makes stupid mistakes.
Most touchpad reviews were 5 stars *****
They needed to give the devices time to grow
Just like how ti took Android time to grow.
So why would an business trust a company that that makes massive mistakes?
I would rather deal with IBM.
And guess what, these stupid mistakes, and rebranding HP as the dumb company.
A company can't turn dumb to smart overnight, so who are they kidding. THey should just stick with what they are good at.
WebOS was too much of a privalage for them. If a different company had WebOS and the touch pad they would of worked miracles, as they wouldn't of been so impatient with their investment. HP must have mega cash to burn. And the CEO treats HP like his big piggy band. Why would any company trust HP with their business? especially after HP managed to kill off Palm (even though it was not making huge profits, it was still existing). Palm needed Capital to compete in market, instead they got rebranded, canceled, and put of a shelf, and worse yet, webOS got branded as a failure even before WebOS could show off its potential. HP sure know what they are doing !!! Now we are talking about putting innovation in the dump? wtf, why didn't HP just hold out like just any other company. It wouldn't of cost anyone to hold out longer, all they needed to do it stop manufacturing and discontinue the product secretively. ANd if sales pick up, then start up production again. Either way they needed time to make an informed decision. Don't listen to the investors, they only care about their precious Apple stock, and they don't care about just one companies best interest. Anyways, this discontinuing the HP touchpad when it was new, was a big mistake, as it killed off the future of WebOS giving it a bad name even tough the reviews were good (look at the title on this new post, this cannot be good for HP Pr and WebOS pr. So what a way to burn over 1 billion for purchasing Palm, and now they tarnished Palms name and its assets, so Palm can only be sold at a big loss. Also since they killed the future, i doubt they could make a future launch.
This is why, patience is a virtue. ANd would you want someone managing or providing service for your company that does everything like a bulldozer?
Its bad enough HP was trying to put themselves on a level playing field with apple, and not taking a back seat like what all newbies should do. This is an arrogant company. What good business advice can they give?
My only hopes is with he Mass buying of HP touchpads and severely discounted rate, is that HP touchpad will become a more of an average OS on tablets, and then will other companies see the potential to continue to develop for an support the WebOS. ANd maybe HP will have a chance to come back from a horrible mistake.
Last thing we needs is a perfectly fine piece of technology in the land fill.
If HP was to hold off discontinuing the products, they could of rebranded the touchpad under a different company and continue selling them, making the WebOS world look bigger.
Sometimes lost leaders are needed to get a foot in the door, or some incentive such as a free printer/software etc.Or a rebate if you trade in your old device.
