HTC Says Users Prefer Slim Phones Over Large Batteries

I wish they'd stop racing for the "thinnest phone" crap, damn things are too thin to hold good. Battery life sucks on my Sammy Gal S1 and I'd gladly pay more for a thicker back with a fat battery for it, well for the S3 when that comes out

What would be great is if they had two models say one that is like 8mm with say a 1700mha battery and another with say 2500mhz and is 15-20mm thick, for those who want a big battery. The other option is to just carry round a spare battery or a usb battery pack.

I don't find battery life is really that bad, I struggle to run out of power on an average day hardly every going below 70% by bedtime. Only turn on wifi and gps when you need it and you save heaps of battery. turning off 3g also helps but I mainly turn that off to save data.

Yes...if you disable half of your smart phone's features you can save battery life. ...but if you get a Motorola Droid Razr Maxx (or an iPhone) you won't have to.

My Samsung Galaxy S2 was so thin that I had to get a case for it and make it look nearly as fat as the iPhone 4s coffin. It din't look as ugly and stupid as the iPhone even with the case on though.

It HTC wants my money they have to stop copying Apple and produce a phones with user exchangeable batteries and a micro sd slots. Else, forget it! I know HTC want to capitalize on the ignorance of the masses and increase their profit n-fold; but the people who buy top of the line HTC phones are not your dumbed down sheeple. They actually are smart enough to look past hype such as Apple's Samsung manufactured retina display.... So HTC, if you want smart money, make a smart product and stop lowering your standards. Don't think of profit only.

Remember, everyone doesn't have the negative feelings for Apple that you harbor...and that doesn't make them ignorant or less intelligent. As you mature you'll realize this on your own.

You give up a great deal of user satisfaction with a iPhone 4s with its tiny screen that feels and look like bumpy trip to hell in a aluminum sardine can, not to mention its lack of open standards. I agree that the Droid Razr Maxx is a nice phone and know it to be far superior to the iPhone 4s save for some silly benchmarks totally useless for user comfort; but I do wish Droid Razr had allowed for user replaceable batteries. As it stands now the Droid Razr Maxx does not meet my standards and I will not recommend it. Sad because it is a nice phone and I wanted to like it and was hoping to gain another choice away from Samsung and my SGSII. Dont want to be jailed in to one brand like some inyourface dumbed-down iSheeple!!!

The only user satisfaction I gave up was when I HAD the Razr Maxx. I'm much happier with the iPhone...silly me.

I don't hate Apple; and while the average Apple consumer gives the impression of being a moron, it is certainly not the case that all Apple users are stupid. I happen to know quite a few people that I respect who use Apple products, though many of them are having second thoughts about their choices these days. I in general abstain from advising them on poor-technology choices. For example, one of my close friend the other day while we were streaming youtube music using a wifi and bluetooth to a bluetooth speaker realized that his iPhone 4s was an inferior device to my Samsung Galaxy S2 as a result of all the skipping his phone made, while my SGS2 streamed the music immaculately and in much louder volume and fidelity. To make a long story short, now he has reservations about his iPhone. I knew that his iPhone 4s was an inferior device given its meager 512 meg of ram and that it would not do as well at such a task. Sure the iPhone 4s does really great in some narrowly selected benchmarks.

I just like the fact that my iPhone is easy to use, never locks up, and works flawlessly for me. I wanted the Razr Maxx to be a better phone for me, but it wasn't. I realized I don't really prefer what Android offers over iOS.

We don't want large batteries. We want slim handsets that last for days on a single charge and not slim phones that need to be recharged 3x a day!

Ummm, you are lucky because that is not the experience of most mature iPhone users. Many of them have horrible stories to tell about their phones and end up moving to Android phones. My Samsung Galaxy S2 works flawlessly for me but I can imagine dumb users who don't do their homework getting into trouble with a phone offering so many options. I do tend to recommend the iPhone to technologically clueless people who don't know the difference between a usb port, a micro sd slot and a micro sim card. Any silly phone is good for reading email and texting and can do a great job. In fact I have an unlocked dual sim phone that I bought in china for something like 100 US$ that is simply extraordinary for such things, including surfing the web and its battery lasts days.

I would love a better battery life as long as I have a suitable extended battery cover that matches the fit of my hand

Well, Motorola has shown the world that you can have a slim phone with incredible battery life with the Droid Razr Maxx. Really, companies have no excuses to do any less. ...not even Apple. I expect the next iPhone to have great battery life too but I'm not really complaining about my iPhone 4S...but it doesn't last as long as my Razr Maxx did. If Motorola can get a really nice screen in their successor to the Razr Maxx and keep or increase their battery life while using at least ICS they could have a real fighter on their hands. ...but even so, I'm sticking with me iPhone. Android's quibbles are just tiring to me.

I think 4" screen and 5mm thin is all we need... 6 hours of 1080p video, 24 hours of browsing/calls should be fine!

I prefer energy efficient phones,over anything else!
My phone does not need a 4000mAh battery to last 2 days, because the software and hardware are written so it can last on a 600mah for a week!

ya...that's why i rent right out and bought a nice big bulky extended battery for my Evo 4G, cuz i want a cutesy phone that lasts 20 minutes...riiiight.
