HTC Sues Apple Back Over Patent Infringement

LOL. People think Apple stock is going to drop because they were counter-sued by HTC? Hey, I really don't agree with the whole idea of patenting a UI (or patenting most things) but you can't help but recognize how amazingly similar HTC's Sense UI looks compared to the iPhone UI. I mean come on, let's be honest here.

This is all just corporate chest thumping going on here. Anyone who honestly thinks this is going to lead to any injunctions by either company are just plain crazy. More like wishful thinking. This is the same situation with AMD and Intel. They are both infringing on each others patents and both suing each other. All these mobile phone companies are infringing each others patents.

Apple can't afford to eliminate all viable competitors (Android OS) in the smart phone market or they risk gaining a monopoly and then totally losing the patent war. Some of it is FUD and some of it is just posturing. Whichever way the court battle leans expect money to go that way to end the fight before a court decision is made.

How about how similar the iPhone os looks to the Palm and Balck berry oses. The same home screens, the others just allowed a lot more usefull functions from there.

You can't patent generic software ideas. Think about it. You don't see ID Software suing Valve for stealing ideas. If they did, in court it would be indefensible!

Apple's just being a bully and trying to bleed other companies out with legal fees. Palm's probably suffered the most from their bullshit. People who buy products from a company as horribly unethical as Apple disgust me.

Oh god you've got to be kidding. Seriously? Do you not know how much of a corporate bully Microsoft is/was? You must live in a bubble. Apple isn't exactly rosy but neither are Microsoft or most of the big players in the market. Everyone sues each other. So what? I came up with a similar idea before smartphones even existed. Same with GeoLocation.
