My laptop screen has been bust for ages - been using it as a desktop - but the screen was getting in the way of the external monitor. I decided to remove it and now the computer doesn't seem to work.

It displays all lights (power, battery, wireless) white without falter (well now there is no light for battery as I tried it without battery). When I had the battery in, every time I plugged in and out the charger it would make one, single, loud "beep". Naturally I can't test this without the battery plugged in.

The computer abruptly switched off when I foolishly clipped the wire/s to the monitor :(

Any help?

Yes...shouldn't have cut it. I'm a ex powerline worker - the high voltage stuff makes more sense it seems.

Attempting to remove the plug from the other end ended up being fatal to my laptop.

R.I.P

I suppose the next gig will be finding out how to get my data off the old driver.
