I am currently looking for a college laptop. Most preferably an ultrabook because of it lightweight characteristic. Budget is strictly below $800. Specs must include a haswell processor. Screen size doesnt matter as long as the laptop is lightweight. Edit: Forgot to mention that battery life is a bit important looking at around 7 hrs or more battery life. Dedicated graphics is also good (if there is one). Also I am buying this from the Phils so I am not looking for online purchase.

IamFinn, I can't force you to get any specific machine. However, I can give you my opinion and hope you agree with me. Were I in your situation, I would go for the Dell machine. However, if sacrificing graphics performance for a decrease in weight is important for you, go for it.
Look into the Acer Aspire S7. You can get up to seven hours battery with it, and goes up to 750m. However, the 750m is in the $900 model, but a $800 model would be findable (Minus dedicated graphics).

I cant buy refurbished laptops and its beyond my budget. But thanks for the suggestion.
Edit: BTW im looking at Dell inspiron 14r-5437 and Lenovo flex 14. Are they any good? And are they lightweight?

Im actually torn between thus two. The Dell has a better graphics card (gt740m) though heavier and has a better battery life, while the Lenovo has a lighter overall unit and a weaker graphics card(gt720m). Im actually forward to the portability side so im more into the Lenovo. If you can suggest something much better I would really appreciate that. P.S I dont really need a DVD drive.

the weight difference will often be very small. Are you sure you want to make a large graphics downgrade for the sake of a relatively small portability increase? Besides, I would consider longer battery life more portable.

I will be walking with this throughout the whole campus so its the weight is very important. Probably I have to sacrifice the graphics card for that. I really need something not really heavy like the Dell.

I agree with LummusMaximus, I would prefer battery life over weight. Sure not like a heavy 17.3" laptop but 100g-200g more weight is minimal for a laptop.
