I am not able to insert video into timeline of Adobe premiere CS5

i am using win7 os. am not able to insert any
video formats to its timeline. while right
clicking the insert option is inactive. pls help

I have used Premiere CS5 and may be able to help but need more information.
What types of video clips (.avi, .mp4, .mpeg, .mov) have you tried to insert into a timeline (sequence)? This probably won't work since the insert button is "inactive" but have you tried dragging a clip to the timeline?
