I got an old phone given to me but I need the original email account which is unknown

I got an old phone given to me and I put my sim in but it won't let me in until I give it an old email account which is unknown. Is it possible to bypass? It's a $60 brand new and its old and well used but I need a replacement until I can afford a new one.
