I can't always get a connection on my ZTE maven 3 phone Android even though I am connected to the internet and is there any apps to help me get a better signal?

Look on Google Play site using your phone:
https/play.google.com/store/apps

Read reviews before installing an app to see if it has any problems like crashing frequently etc.
