I have a dilemma. I have an older Denon turntable. I bought a new receiver with the phono input. I already have a Genesis surr

If you have an older Denon turntable it probably doesn't have a built in phono preamplifier but if it does there is usually a switch under the record platter to turn it on and off.
All turntables require one so if neither your receiver \or turntable doesn't have one built in you need to get an external one.
It will connect in between the turntable and any line level analog audio input on your audio system.
