Why? What kind of unit is this JVC?

Make sure you've set up properly audio and video inputs, eg DVD is both assigned to HDMI.

Some Onkyo receivers that have HDMI problems can be repaired for free even when out of warranty. Check with Onkyo.

Well it's since changed ibe acquired a Sony str dh520 fairly decent. Still would live to bbn use my bbn onkyo somehow
