I assume you meant to type "scart", not "scary"? You can usually use HDMI passthrough to connect the audio

Output device (cable box, dvd player etc) via HDMI to the Soundbar, then another HDMI from Soundbar to TV

You can get a SCART adapter that will provide an analog audio output that should work if your soundbar has an aux input.

Set it to output if there is a switch to do so. If not make sure you get one that provides audio output

My soundbar only has optical connection and my tv doesn't, is there a way round this have been told I need 3 or 4 different items!!

You can use one of these to convert analog to optical audio.

These don't work in both directions so you have to get the right one.
