I have a toshiba satellite c655-s5212 labtop and the power lights come on but no video or anything, it does not post. I can hear the fan come on for 2seconds and the goes off. I was told that it was the mother board. what could it be?

Could indeed be the motherboard. You could try cleaning the fans first if you haven't?
