I have a tosiba satellite notebook it says insert media key nothing will restart it can it be fixed

My 10 yr old thinks he is a comp tech and he was resetting my toshiba when my dh unplugged it not realising
Now all it says is insert media key ??
No cs drive and holding f8 or f12 won't do anything can it be fixed and how much the notebook only cost me 300 so is it worth saving

Was it still running Windows 7 when it broke down? If so, have you tried mashing the Function 8 key while powering it up, and select Safe mode with networking when offered the choices.

That loads far less programmes than a normal setup and it might just have enough energy to fix the problem.
