Are you sure it isn't the charger and not the battery? Also, the battery you bought, if aftermarket it is possible that battery is not good. They are kind of hit or miss.

I bought it on Amazon. Battery by " Simply Silver " Its not the charger. Charger works on my husbands phone. His charger doesn't work on mine. Even if it was a defective battery, shouldn't the red charging light come on while plugged in? Any help appreciated.

While in Mexico the phone got very hot in my bag. Weather in the 90s. But I never had it in direct sun.

If it overheated it is possible a component was damaged. Which would mean either getting the phone repaired or replacing it.
