I have two locks now, a swipe and a pattern. I want to disable only the swipe and retain the pattern only. How do I do it?

Well depends on the phone, but generally you can just go into settings, security, and then there should be a setting mentioning the locks.

Settings>other>security>encrypt device This will bring up the list of options that you can use to lock the device. This is from a Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.3.

Also you can get there by Settings> My Device>lock screen will bring up the same options.
