You're going to have to be a *lot* more clear and a *lot* more detailed about what you specifically have and what it is exactly you're trying to do.

No proof of purchase = no activation code so the device is likely a brick. More devices with a high retail theft rate are using activation codes that are required to unlock the device. When purchased the store should give you the code or instructions on how to get it. You can try contacting Garmin but you are likely sol.
