I need to be able to keep purchased programs

I need a new laptop but I am afraid many of them being Chromebooks and app ready that I will not be able to use the programs I need to download. HELP

Basically, make sure it's running Windows and isn't running Windows RT.

If it has an Intel or AMD sticker on it and a Windows sticker, you should be fine.

Typically nowadays any OS when you buy and app from say a store that app is tied to an account. If you get a new PC you still own the purchased apps and can download them. Now Windows desktop apps you need the install media or install file. Even chromebook apps are tied to an account. There will be more and more Windows desktop apps converted to Modern apps and be available in the store.
