Millennial Alyse Stanley picks Barbie over actual impactful history. SHOCKER

Barbie is hard-hitting and biting critique of gender roles. Those who see this movie outside of our country simply laugh at how ridiculous it all is, maybe that's the point.

Alyse Gives Fallout videogame as a reference for non-bias. lol

What a joke xD

I'm from Europe and I will back you on this, Barbie movie in our eyes is as silly as it can be. And this is why I do want to watch it, a couple of hours with brain switched off, it's always a treat (ignoring the woke agenda, in Europe we're just laughing at that). Nolan's movie, it's a representation of known history events, I really would like to see his take on history. And, understandably will deviate a little bit from the actual events due to screen dramatization reasons etc etc.. but for god's shake one can't compare those 2 movies the way the author of the article did - their only common element is that they're both... movies. Historical drama against a fictional story about a toy.

The fact that Ms Stanley, with obviously zero knowledge or interest in history, preferred Barbie is confirmation enough that I, as a cis male in his 50s, need to watch Oppenheimer first. Why she felt the need to even compare the two vastly different movies is beyond my comprehension. While she's at it she might as well compare Casino and Toy Story since those two films also hit theaters on the same day. I think I already know which one she'd like better...

It's sad that Toms Guide (and the Corporate Owner) is going so woke like this. It's sad that other countries are laughing at us (especially about 2+ years going forward). It's sad that people have lost all respect for Tom's Guide. But it is what it is - Go Woke, Then Choke - I could care less about anybody's ideology regarding anything... religion, sex, color, size... everybody has their own opinion and are free to do so. But - if you cram a religion down my throat I will not give quarter. I don't care if I agree with it - just don't push it so hard. That just makes a person push back to get it away! Same goes for this woke stuff. Why watch a movie that crams the woke ideology - when we are being barraged with it already?!? And to choose that over a historical piece is not only a bad choice (IMHO) but also a vivid picture of the intelligence of the author in the first place. Let's give these five children candy, and that child asparagus... that way we can get a fair assessment of which one they like better... smh.

It doesn't take too many sentences to deduce her ignorance. One film is about a doll and the other is about a weapon that arguably saved humanity.

Barbie and Oppenheimer are two of this year's most-anticipated movies. But only one won me over.

Interesting. I felt lectured to during the Barbie movie. I don't disagree with the premise, but I felt as though I was being hit over the head with the message -- and it didn't seem clever. One or two funny incidents... and I did appreciate the plastic scenery . (And how about the schmaltz at the end.!) Walked out of the theater with my husband and we both wondered whether we were part of this culture anymore. We just couldn't understand the hype -- just shrugged our collective shoulders. I look forward to seeing the Oppenheimer movie. Maybe the critics will redeem themselves. There is so little stuff to see out there that a film like Barbie gets a attention. Personally, I'd prefer spending the time watching cat videos.
