Question micro USB port on 5th Gen Fire won't connect

I have a 5th gen Amazon Fire tablet (c2015). The microUSB port will connect for charging but I can get the device to show up on my win10 PC file explorer. The tablet will chime like it's connected but that's it. Sometimes wriggling the connector will get it to connect but not often. Am I SOL?

Have you tried an alternate cable?

Solved the problem. Apparently there's a bad connection between the connector and the actual Kindle device. If I place something about 1cm thick under the cable connector, the device will properly connect. Either that, or I have to hold the connector at an angle constantly until everything is finished.

Understood. That is certainly annoying. Glad you figured out. Sounds like the port is broken.
