I want to buy 5.1 speakers. Can anyone suggest me recommended sound output power? I am planning to buy speakers which has Output power : 40W + 8W * 5. Is this good?

As you may know wattage is an indication of power, not an indication of any sort of quality (sound, manufacturing process, or otherwise).

If I were you I would do some research and figure out the best solution for your situation.

That is correct in theory, yes. But as stated speakers being loud (aka having a certain wattage) is not an indication of how well the speakers perform in a practical sense.

DUde, just buy the logitech z5500's or the logitech x906. They are the best speakers you can get for surround sound for the price and quality. Nothing really beats it.

Talking about power. I wouldn't say that 40Watt is a powerful sub woofer and 8 watt speakers are pretty average. If you can tell use which model of speakers they are I can help you but you should really consider the logitech speakers i mentioned above. GOod Luck

The Logitech Z-5500's are no longer in production and I've seen places selling them for $1000+.

I recommend these speakers that fit in your price range:
