Greetings,

Can I get simple advice in regards of budget 200$ laptop ? I'm very strict and precise with questions therefore recommendation for other laptops and cpu's doesn't help me this time.

I had i7 2670qm, and it was used only for Chrome, YouTube, 1080p videos (mkv/mp4) and other daily stuff. Ofcourse it was overkill, but I sold that laptop last year.

I was aiming for i7 3630qm then I dropped to i7 3610qm but offer which I had it's gone, deal was for about 320$.

Now after talk with my wife we don't want to spend over 220$ on laptop since we do have old Destkop PC which we upgraded and it's doing all work just fine for our needs (q9650/6gb ram/gt1030).

CPU which is in all models in price range at 200-220$ in my country is i5 2450M. Is i5 2450M enough with 4/6gb of ram on his hd3000 or maybe dedicated 1GB gpu which is standard in these models, for surfing, emails along with YouTube videos in background, watching mkv/mp4 files at 1080p/1440p ? Or CPU will be literally a limit for these things ?

To be honest I was always destkop person, I had old b820 cpu (intel single core 10 years ago), then 2670qm and that's it, therefore I don't know how 2 core 4 threads CPU's works these days..

So basically can i5 2450M/6GB/1GB Dedicated GPU with SSD be just fine for daily use ?

Solution

absolutely fine. No problems (as long as the laptop works fine) The CPU/Ram/GPU will be fine for daily use.

Thank you. Is there any noticable difference between i5 2430M and i5 2450M ? Aside from last 2 numbers ? :) Because I have offer for higher resolution, 2 inch bigger display and 8gb's of ram for same price, but 2430m ?

there is literally no difference, apart from 100mhz in clockspeed. they will both perform very close to each other. That extra 100mhz doesn't translate to much.

i'd go for the one with the better specs and the 2430. that just me though.

I ordered i5 3380M (should be even faster ?) with 8gigs of ram, hd4000 (no dedicated but it's hd4000 not hd3000) + SSD 256GB so I don't have more expenses, for same price.
