Which of these 2 combinations would be best for moderate gaming use?

Mainly play online MMOs, etc. (looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online and EQNext in 2014).

Understand that neither is optimal but both would be a significant improvement from my current laptop ( i7 2670QM + HD 7690M).

Cost wide hey are about the same, so is it better to go for the stronger CPU or the better GPU?

Get the better graphics. The first combination is better I think for gaming.

For gaming the better GPU will give you more performance increase. Also taking in account that i7-4702mq is already a really powerful CPU and you don't really need anything more powerful than that for gaming, the stronger GPU will give you more benefits.
So yeah - i7-4702mq + gt 750m all the way.

Thanks all. Looking at the options I found the exact same chasis, display, etc. but using an AMD Quad-Core A10-5750M + GB AMD Radeon HD 8750M Discrete graphics for $300 less than the Intel combos.

From a light to moderate gaming standpoint is it worth the $300 to go Intel?

I'd be willing to spend up to $1,300 for the right combination.

I know the build quality on the HP Envy line is very nice. I'd also consider Asus or Samsung bu their offerings tend to be either really cheap or rdiciulously expensive.

The 4GB is only option for the 750; the 740 comes in a 2GB version.

I did contact HP and they send me a link that states the 750 uses DDR5.

The specs look good on paper but I haven;t seen an actual Lenovo laptop in person in years. My concern is that they still suffer from quality issues and that the case build/materials will be cheap.

The SLI option looks temping but my concern there is the cooling fans will be running at freight train speed trying to keep up with the heat generated.

Lenovo laptops are actually one of the best laptops quality-wise these days!
If you could find the Lenovo y510p for the same price as the other intel laptops, definitely get the Lenovo laptop. You will have to buy a cooling pad for the laptop anyway, if you're planning to play games. So the temperatures will be fine with the cooling pad.
