iCloud creating duplicate playlist in my iTunes library

I have several hundred playlist in my iTunes library. I play my music through an Apple TV, so I need to sync my library with the iCloud which allows the apple tv to play the playlist. When I select iTunes preferences, and then select iCloud library , the iCloud syncs my library with the cloud. I get duplicate playlists. some are empty, some are partial duplicates. I have talked with apple support and read on line reviews. I have deleted my songs from the cloud, but not the playlist. Is there a way to delete the playlist and upload the actual items?

when i sync my iTunes library with iCloud library, I get duplicate playlists. I have followed on line instructions to delete songs and clear the iCloud library. But the playlist is not being cleared. Any suggestions?
