If a gateway computer does not turn on what is the problem?

A friend gave me a Gateway labtop it does not turn on please help

What model of Gateway is it? How old?

When you plug in the AC power cord and press the ON button - what happens?

Aprently the gateway has closed and you are not welcome in any longer.... This is a very vague question. Look at battery and power connections reseat ram hard drive PCi cards. Hold power button down like 20 seconds. if nothing then I would assume bad power supply or bad motherboard..

Exactly.

gateway (but also dell, HP, emachine) = Flaky system = flaky mobo = 300$ repairs = not worth it

Get an Asus or Msi laptop instead.
