Solved! if i buy an egpu can i use a thunderbolt 3 to usb a and will it still work?

i want to be able to play newer games on my laptop but i do not have a thunderbolt 3 on my current laptop. so i was wondering if i could just run a thunderbolt 3 to a usb type a converter

Only the vendor of the egpu would know the answer, but my guess is, good luck.

No because usb does not have pcie protocols. Tb3 is not the only port with pcie. Every laptop with wifi has a slot, either mpcie or m.2, that the wifi card is in. There's also expresscard but that's on older laptops and also the older versions of tb.
