Hello,
For the past 7 years I have had a servicable laptop, at the time I got it was not the best laptop on the market and over the years I'm sure you can guess how it has faired.
Because of this I am interested in purchasing a new one but like many things I know just enough about laptops to be dangerous.

So I am really just looking for any tips, useful reviews, or suggestions on a new laptop.

My wish list:
15-16 in screen
Good resolution (as in, at least 1280×1024)
Strong CPU as I plan to use it mostly for gaming.
Good graphics card (Basically I would like to be able to not have to replace this in order to meet the requirements of any games for the next few years)
Weight is immaterial
Battery life not a factor
Manufacture not an issue
Price: Somewhere around the $1000- $1500.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If I had to buy a laptop today with similar requirements as you I would go with a Lenovo Ideapad. That one has an option to remove the DVD player and add a second video card.

They are indeed. The ones in the link had dedicated graphics, but did have a provision for removing the optical drive and replacing it with a dedicated GPU. One offered had that, but the res was stil a little down.
