Indoor/Outdoor Antennas Recommendation

I'm looking to cancel my Dish subscription. But first I want to make sure I can get local channels using an antenna. I've tried two indoor ones, an RCA and Antennas Direct (Amplified). The Antennas Direct seemed to work better but I cannot get the Fox network, don't get anything else outside of ABC, NBC and CBS, no matter what I try. Now, I do live outside the city limits (28115), the transformers are about 20 miles or more from my home and I'm surrounded on all sides by trees. So I'm sure the trees are by biggest issue.

What are my other options to get a better, reliable signal? Or am I SOL!

An outdoor antenna will usually work much better than any indoor antenna. If the transmitters are located in the same area you can get a directional antenna that will give you more gain. Channel Master has been making antennas forever.
