Hi,
I need the battery pin out diagram for Dell Inspiron 5160, battery type 6T473. The battery is not getting charged in the notebook.

I need this information to build an external charger using LM317.

Appreciate any help.

I met the same problem of my laptop Dell Inspiron 5160, battery type 6T473. The battery is not charged by the power adapter. Did you figure out how to charge the battery externally. If you have any suggestion, please email me at caoqingmail2004@yahoo.com. Thanks a lot!

I was away for a while due to busy schedule and now I found some time to work on this laptop again . So far the problem is not fixed. But I was able to read the battery pins voltage in the charging position. I am not sure this is a good result or not. But not seeing any change after 3 hrs of in-place charing.

Between pins1&2 and pins 8&9 (Grnd)= 14.9v
Between pins3&4 and pins 8&9 (Grnd)= .03 v
Between pin5 and pins 8&9 = 1.03v
Between pins6&7 and grnds(8&9) = 4.85v
