Intel HD vs Intel HD 2000, 3000

My current Sony notebook has a Intel HD graphics and I was wondering that is there really a noticeable different compairing to the new Intel HD 2000 or 3000? Specs looks similar but I noticed that the 3000 is little better on specs but just wanted to know if it will perform better on games like Crysis. Right now when I play Crysis I get normaly around 22 FPS and high as 30 FPS and low as 14 FPS. Basicly I want to know is that if my video card has a Intel HD 2000 or 3000 would my games run noticeable better. I know you can't upgrade notebook video cards but if I was able to would it be any better.

No it will not have any significant impact on performance, if you really want to game you should get a dedicated video card, the GTX 460 is pretty cheap these days and performs quite well.

The comparison isn't exactly fair. The 2820QM is $550 going up against $250 540M. There aren't any i7QM with integrated level graphics to compare against. However, looking at the better discete cards, weak CPU doesn't hold any of them back. It's also unlikely that CPU power alone can increase performance.

Does the Intel HD 2000 even have noticeable difference compaired to the original Intel HD like mine? I see that the 3000 is better but I don't know about the 2000. It looks like the 2000 has less pipelines so it might be slower than mine.

yes, the HD2000 and 3000 make use of shared cache memory. How much improvement purely depends on how the game is optimized, and what is in cache memory.

Some say the 3000 is about as fast as a radeon HD 5450. See the 2011 graphics card hierarchy here:

the answer is no. the current GPU you have is integrated toghether with your CPU. Laptop GPUs get installed directly to motherboard at the factory, so there's no way to install it post market.

if you want a better GPU you will have to buy a new laptop

the 3000 would run maybe 8-15 fps better then the 2000

can someone send me a benchmark on the intel 2000 so i can answer these questions better i know the intel hd 3000 benches in the 300's so i would assume the intel hd 2000 benches some where in between 1-350 can someone send me a number on the benchmark of the intel hd 2000 for this is my backup graphics if any thing happens to my gtx 550 ti 2gb card intels hd 2000 would be my back up so i am curious about where it benches send numbers please

I don't know what benchmarks you are referring to. I only look at game benchmarks anyway.

The Intel HD 3000 is basically as powerful as a Radeon HD 5450. The Intel HD 2000 is basically about 40% slower than the Intel HD 3000. Therefore, Google some benchmarks for the Radeon HD 5450 and take 60% of the frame rates to get a rough idea.
