My dell laptop recently had its screen quit working. So i ordered a new screen. the laptop is a dell inspiron 1521, not the latest but i like it. anyways. the screen arrives and i go to install it. windows promptly recignizes the screen as a lenovo thinkpad t500 screen. Both are wxga both 15.4 inches. but one does not respond to the brightness controls the same way as the other.
for example. on the old screen. when i pressed the buttons to increase the brightness, starting from zero it would go up in sequencial order until i got to 100%.
on the new screen when increacing the brightness it goes up and at about 50 percent bright i am at max brightness. at 60% it might as well be as if i were back at 0. and from there we go back up to as bright as it can get at 100% on the windows 8 brightness indicator.
i should add that even at what is supposidly 100% brightness the new screen is still dramaticly dimmer than the old one
any thoughts to get full brightness out of this display.

You may have answered your own question here with "dell laptop and a lenovo screen". I'm not sure there is a way to fix that.
