The only device in the sound->recording is "Realtek Microphone Array", it works when my headphones are plugged out but when I plug them in its quiet (but no other mics show up)Try the following...
- Go to "Control Panel".
- Click on "Sound".
- Click the "Recording" tab.
- Click on the device you are trying to set as the main device for sound.
- Once you have made your changes, then click "Apply" and then "OK".
- Then click "OK", again, on the main "Sound window".
Yes it is always defaultThen right click on that one and set it as "Default". And be sure you right click on the background and set it to show you any others.
NOTE: The headset needs to be connected when doing this.
Yep, even when my headphones are connected it's always as default. Thank you so much for helping me out but I'm so stuck!I am referring to the microphone. It is set always as default? Even when your headphones are connected?
I cant test the port, because all the headphones I have are mic attached. ive heard that if a no mic headphone Is plugged in it uses the laptop micI am wondering if there is a problem with the port you are connecting through, or, the headphones you are using, do they actually have a mic but it is either not working or you don't want to use it? Or are they just straight up headphones?
Thanks for following up, but irrespective of whether the mic is plugged into my headphones or not the only thing that shows is "Realtek microphone array" and it is always on default. You could try attaching the mic, then (while it is on) go into the same location I mentioned before and set the mic with the headset as the default. Save it, then while still all attached, change it to the laptops mic as the default. If it is 'stuck' so to speak, that should resolve it.
