Hi All,

I am looking to buy my first DSLR but have always previously just used the travel compacts and would now like to learn a little more.

I do not want to spend bucket loads first off and have been looking at the Cannon EOS 1200 and 100D and also the Nikon 3300, but was wondering which one would best suit my needs at this early stage, but I am open to other models too.

I plan to mostly take photos at the moment, so image quality is probably what I would looking for mainly, over the video spec.

Any advice would be a big help.

Those are sometimes ok, but if you are serious about learning I would suggest a small step up to something like the T6i. It will fit in your hands better than the lowest level ones. Kit lenses for both should be fine at first too
