[citation][nom]toallthehaters[/nom]I'm confused is this forum anti-apple? I thought it was a tech sight?[/citation]
This "SIGHT" is about Hardware. i mean its in the name of the parent "SIGHT" which would imply that a "TABLET" *iPad* that is ABSOLUTELY NOT intended to be "Upgradeable" is unfitting of this forums typical user.
So in effect, yes this "sight" is generically PC "Windows/variants of linux, which i know NOTHING OF. YET!" biased. And rather Neutral/anti-APPLE!

[citation][nom]cp8427[/nom]Not a fan of neither. Owning a European car means you better have a separate savings account for the maintenance. The same applies for Apple products.[/citation]
Us Europeans can say the same about American cars to be fair. My wife smashed the wing mirror glass on our Jeep, dealer wanted £160 for a new one :O

In reply to this, and justifying BOTH sides of the market even tho "I" am rather anti apple. All new cars are overpriced for DEALER maintenances. In current time, its not the parts and time your paying for. It is the factors that these "parts" are proprietary. And as we see with macs, they do not run on 80 % of market software because they are essentially SOFTWARE proprietary. So now that compatibility and requirements are covered. Lets take the same into consideration for the labor/time factor. Even when i had to change out a clutch on a 92' tercel last year, it was simple and straightforward work. While when i did a simple oil change and basic tune up for a friends 07' Honda Civic. I was burden of having to work around far more "unnecessary" internal cosmetic panels to get the work done.

Macs are made to NOT be customizable. For example they had to produce a DUAL BOOT feature so they could run windows side by side. rather than just code in a way that is more compatible. Or better yet even a APPLE programed "virtualization" rather than making there own customers purchase from the "enemy".

[citation][nom]fracture[/nom]You're still in the same boat. Albeit a cheaper boat.LoL, uh no. Just because you don't take the Merc in for maintenance doesn't mean it's cheaper to repair and maintain. Parts and Maintenance for that car is way more than the Civic. Not sure what you're trying to get at. So someone can't like a certain car on a car site? Is Apple even a tech company?[/citation]

Well, you are wrong and apparently the use of the term "repair/maintain" confused you and who said it was not taken in? Are you that ignorant to think that somebody would not take any vehicle in for maintenance? I own both and have paid for similar repairs on both, and it is cheaper to buy the Benz parts than Honda. Mechanics for both are about the same unless you go to a dealership. The point is that somebody stated that people buy German cars for status symbols, which is pure BS. Germans make superior cars.

Apple is consider an electronics company and is now the fourth largest in US.

Merge? I'll remember that next time I plug my phone into the radio's AUX port and set it in the $10 cellphone holder, that I "merged" my cellphone with my car. Instant Tech Article news!

OSX is based off of Unix. Unix/Linux, you know the operating system that is in 99% of all the world's fastest super computers. Why in the world would Unix want to be like MS? Just because this site (yes, not sight) is pro MS doesn't mean you should make short sighted comments like this.

agreed...the more the "pro" PC talks, the more ignorant some of them look. Hey, for me, I have a PC for gaming, but I wont just blindly bash Apple either.

[citation][nom]Yoder54[/nom]Both of the German makes exude quality and superior engineering. You are stereotyping. Shall we do the same with you and assume that since you drive a Mazda you live in a beat down trailer? Some people do not appreciate quality vehicles or engineering. I will take a AMG C55 over any Japanese vehicle any day.[/citation]

Ahh whats soo funny is that most of the stuff that is made for that german car is made in china or japan LMAO so please...

ohh and one more thing i know about 7 people that have BMW and MERC's and let me tell you they are constantly bringing there cars in to have Software upgrades done becuase there are problems with there computers.. i am sorry but i prefer driving a car not a computer... i prefer a car with no traction control. manual tranny, good ol throttle wire.. ya know ya it has a computer in it but guess what i tell it what to do not it telling me what to do.. you say german make the best cars no they dont the best cars are 20 to 30 years old and are good ol american made... the problem is people are relying on all this technology instead of learning to drive..."end rant"

This whole ipad in the car thing is stupid anyways you shouldnt be using some freaking electronic device in your car to begin with... what ever happened to driving and enjoying the drive people are so stuck up technologies ass

wcooper:

my 335i just whopped up on some good old american non-computerized action over the weekend(GTO). Funny thing is I have 50% of the displacement. Guess the twin turbo and "computers" are worth something after all.

If you are so against computers stick with an abacus.

[citation][nom]silverblue[/nom]I still don't know what's "safe" about having a solid object positioned in front of your face which you may just faceplant during sudden braking.[/citation]
You're an idiot. How can someone bash their face into an object when there's a seat belt restraining you? You're grasping for any reason to bash Apple that you've lost even basic common sense. Or maybe you ride around with no seat belt, in which case Darwin will someday rid Tom's of your useless posts.

To all the whiners saying BMW and Mercedes aren't worth it, how many of you have dropped $$$ on a gaming video card? Yeah, I thought so. You can shut your traps now as you're exactly the same: buying things that are overpriced for what you get, buying things that most people don't need, and feeling fully justified in spending so much more money on.

Lets take into account that objects that are not 100% secure in an accident are known to cause SEVERE injuries and even death. Take a cell phone sitting on the dash console for example. Or a large Solid beverage container. Both of which along with many other common objects can cause severe injuries.

Now to take into account the stability of that bracket. Unless its "Bolted" or some other RELIABLE form of securing its not safe. Let alone that its a "VIEWING ANGLE" Not an angle at which one could comfortably use it for extended times such as having your 9 year old in the back seat playing a flash game, or an adult typing up some sort of document. Both of which are at a position that would be uncomfortable.

Don't worry, the glass surface'll take the impact.
