Hi
I've tried installing the beta patch posted here to resolve the
incompatibility between the 1940 and Nokia 6230, following the discussions
on this topic before. It didn't work for me with the latest ROM update for
the 1940 (1.10), but if I go back to the previous version (1.00) the patch
does work. Does anybody know where the patch originated HP / Widcomm / Nokia
? so I can look for an updated or released version. Can anybody else confirm
my findings?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Andy,
Where did you get the beta patch ? HP rarely lets a beta patch out
unless someone posted it illegally and some of those beta patches are nasty
! I have installed the Pocket PC 2003 Terminal Services Client Reconnect
Workaround version 1.00 patch that effects most iPaq's, but not sure of the
one you are talking about. The one patch I have seen was on a Russian and
also German site and it was Ver 1.1 and the users said it did not work.
Have you tried looking at: www.expansys.com ? They often have alot of good
BT info.

Hello Tedd
Thanks for your reply. The patch was posted on the expansys forum amongst
other places. It seems to be genuine and some people have reported getting
it from HP but when I ask on the online tech support chat at HP they deny
all knowledge of it.

Andy,
Well that was a good "opp's !" from me, pointing you right to the place
you got the bad patch from ! That has not happened of often. No you will
not get any reference to that patch from HP as I had tried the on-line chat
(not the best support people on that one), the web page question form,
direct email and via phone and only one person had even heard of it. I am
not real up on the Nokia forums, so cannot point you there.
My last two thoughts that might work, have you tried posting to:
Newsgroups: microsoft.public.pocketpc.wireless

There are some pretty sharp people in there and phones are always coming up
in topics.

Track down and bug Helio Diamant, he is a walking library of info usually.
He is on here often or his web site is: Only small problem, I forgot how to
get his site into English....Also Sven (forgot his last name) is good and
always on this group.
http://www.pocketpcfreak.com

I will keep looking and if I can find something more useful I will post it
here with a "PING-->Andy" in the subject line.

If all else fails, try Google:

It's available on my ISP's news service.

You can request that your isp add the newsgroup to their service, most isp's
are generally helpful.

There are other services that provide newsgroup access, it's a while since I
did this but there were a few free services last time I did this, but the
cost of the others wasn't high and their service was good.

You can also use msnews.microsoft.com to access MS newsgroups. That's what
I do even though my ISP carries the groups. This allows me to access the group
wirelessly from anywhere.
