Does anyone know how to change the ip configuration for
the USB connection or set it to DHCP?
I want to ping the exchange server on my network to see
why I can't sync my public folders.

I don't think this is an address problem, and as has been mentioned you
can't change that anyway. The IP connection that is setup by ActiveSync is
not a full implementation. It does not support UDP which makes it
impossible to browse a MS network from the cradle, and I suspect it doesn't
support ICMP, so pinging doesn't work. Normally you wouldn't need to be in
the same network to ping.

Does the exchange server machine have any sort of web administration
software on it? You could use PIE and enter http://ipaddress/ just to see if
you are reaching the machine.

Hopefully someone chimes in here, because I am not at all sure you can sync
public folders in any case.
