[citation][nom]watcha[/nom]It felt faster than any phone I tried. What phone was faster than the iPhone 4 when it launched? It also had double the size app store, the best battery life, smallest form factor, highest resolution screen - it allowed me to watch Sky Sports on my mobile (which no other phone does - even today). And it's worked very well for me, I've had no issues at all.[/citation]
The Galaxy S was the fastest phone.

Motorola Droid, HTC HD2, and a couple more phones were faster than the iPhone 4 when it came out.

So because Call of Duty - Black Ops was the best selling game on Xbox 360, or Justin Beiber breaking record in album sales makes it the best out there? No, it is called the iPhone is the most generic simple minded phone for the average consumer. Every time I go to a movie, there is always a bunch of teenage girls on there iPhone texting.

All I hear about is how Apple created Siri and is better than Android. First off Apple did not create Siri. They purchased Siri in April 2010 - Google it. Secondly Android has had Speaktoit and Vlingo out for a very long time that works better than Siri. Instead of giving a stupid answer that Siri does if doesn't know the question, Speaktoit Google searches it for you and shows results. Also you can search Google maps with it. Try using Siri off of Wifi. It takes about 20 seconds for some results. Android has about 8 times faster internet than the iPhone.

Also iCloud that iSheep are raving about is garbage compared to Dropbox. Dropbox has been out a long time for Google users. It works way better than iClound in the fact it works on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Also you can share files, music, apps, etc. with friends and family where you are limited to only the user account with iCloud. I also like how they copied Android on there lock screen and notification area. Real original Apple.

So enjoy your iPhone that likes to copy everything Android does and tiny screen, no 4G, No turn by turn voice navigation, and only 512 MB of memory, which Apple doesn't mention on there website. LOL

maybe you tried the old candy bar phones, because at the iphone 4 launch there were plenty of phone that have a lot more hardware and powerhouse than the apple iphone. I don't know in what box they shoved you in..

All the debating in here just reminds me how much time people waste on their damn phones. Everywhere you go now, masses of people are glued to their phone screen instead of ... you know, actually looking around and enjoying life. I have an iPhone and it's pretty nice, but I don't see it as a necessity. It's just a novelty device imo. Other than the obvious, making phone calls.

Do yourself a favor, leave your phone at home every once in awhile :)

[citation][nom]Vladislaus[/nom]Certainly it wasn't the fastest...[/citation]

Pull your head out of the smelly place and read some reviews that have gauged performace.
It is rated as the fastest phone particularly for GPU performace by a fairly wide margin.
Even with its pittance 512MB ram!
OR, for something totally radical, actually try the phone at one of the vendors.

See, when Androidism becomes simple ignorance, I begin to worry.

'We're not going to beat around the bush -- in our approximation, the iPhone 4 is the best smartphone on the market right now. The combination of gorgeous new hardware, that amazing display, upgraded cameras, and major improvements to the operating system make this an extremely formidable package. Yes, there are still pain points that we want to see Apple fix, and yes, there are some amazing alternatives to the iPhone 4 out there. But when it comes to the total package -- fit and finish in both software and hardware, performance, app selection, and all of the little details that make a device like this what it is -- we think it's the cream of the current crop.'

So in summary, you said 'Motorola Droid was faster than the iPhone 4 when it came out?' I say... please.

Your little rant about computer games is irrelevant too. GT on Playstation was also a best seller, is it therefore rubbish? Answer: no. Why? Because being the best selling product does not make it necessarily bad. It's ridiculous to try and claim it does too, by the way.

'iPhone is the most generic simple minded phone for the average consumer'

What you meant to say there was that it was the most capable phone at the time, yet did so in a simple, intuitive way, a way which isn't reserved only for geeks. It's unbelievably sad that you define yourself on how difficult your phone is to use, and also that you try to make out that teenage girls using the phone is a bad thing - yet all you Android fans always say that fashion is why people buy the iPhone? You pretty little boy, would feel emasculated if a girl could work your phone? Bless.

'First off Apple did not create Siri. They purchased Siri in April 2010 - Google it'

Um.... did anyone see me say that they created Siri? You little retard, lol. It doesn't matter who made it, the point is Apple have improved and added to it such that it is now far more advanced than anything you can get on Android. You say they work 'better' - every independant reviewer who has actually tried it disagrees. Who to believe? Independant experts? Or an angry Android geek who wants to flex his un-necessarily-complex-tech muscle skills?

'Android has about 8 times faster internet than the iPhone'

I think that is the single most ridiculously stupid claim I've ever seen. You actually made me question why I'm replying to someone so stupid not to know the difference between a phone and Android.

'Dropbox has been out a long time for Google users. It works way better than iClound in the fact it works on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Also you can share files, music, apps, etc. with friends and family where you are limited to only the user account with iCloud'

I use Dropbox, exclusively. It doesn't sync contacts, it doesn't integrate seamlessly with my phone, and it costs more - both in the sense that you only get 2GB free and that to upgrade space costs more. It also doesn't sync things like conversations you've had with people. Otherwise it's the same. So clearly worse, overall.

'I also like how they copied Android on there lock screen and notification area. Real original Apple'

Did they legally copy? Are there any lawsuits for the notification system? No, that says it all really. They took the one thing that Android fans had been crying about the iPhone not having, and put it in? They're bad when they don't have it, and bad when they do? Please, lol.

'So enjoy your iPhone that likes to copy everything Android does and tiny screen, no 4G, No turn by turn voice navigation, and only 512 MB of memory, which Apple doesn't mention on there website. '

Why does the amount of memory matter to me, when the performance is better than Android - and why should Apple list it? Similar, why does the 800mhz clock speed matter to me? The iphone 4, when it launched, was pretty much the fastest phone you could get, and the iPhone 4S, right now, has a faster CPU/GPU combination that any Android phone, full stop. It's amazing that the Android geeks, such as yourself - don't yet realise despite the Intel vs AMD era that the MHz or MB ram isn't the deciding factor in performance. It's ridiculous that you don't realise that, considering where you're posting. I dunno why you're so uninformed to think that you can't get turn by turn voice navigation (given that I use it daily on my iPhone using an app), but then I think that's you all over? As evidenced in this post. You don't have a clue really, you just want to like Android because then the little girls can't use your phone and you can feel all manly and 'not popular' - you know, like those fat people in denial who say they don't want to look good. You want to be different to those 'popular guys' that you've always been jealous of and think that trying to get a different phone is the way to do it. It's just sad.

And for all of you people reading this who actually bought Android for sensible, logical reasons unlike the BS by the guy I'm posting, then fair enough, and I may well be joining you if the Nexus Prime is any good.

Oh and I just realised you listed the HTC HD2 as better than the iPhone 4 too.... LOL...

Lets compare: (Apple / HTC HD2)

Storage: 64 GB vs 512 MB
Talk time: 14 hours vs 6,3 hours
App Store: iPhone App Store vs Windows Mobile Marketplace
Screen PPI: 329 PPI vs 216 PPI
Multitouch: Yes vs No
Wifi Speed: 802.11n (150 mbps) vs 802.11g (54 mbps)
Resolution: 960x640 vs 800x480
Movies: 720p @ 30fps vs 480p
Size: 58x114x9 mm vs 67x121x11 mm (iphone 4 much smaller)
Depth: 9 mm vs 11 mm
Weight: 137 g vs 157 g
RAM: 512 MB vs 448 MB

I mean, did you seriously name it? Really?

Please.

LOL, seriously.

First off, I am sorry, but I meant the Droid X, you can also add the HTC Incredible, HTC EVO 4G, Nexus One. The iPhone 4 processor speed is clocked at 800 mhz, where the other phones clocked at 1 GHZ.

Secondly, most people in America are lazy, and don't like to learn more in depth featured items. They like a simple interface, for there simple minds.

Regarding Siri, read the forums and other topics, iSheep are boasting Apple and there creation of Siri is way ahead of Android.

When I stated Android has up to 8 times faster internet than the iPhone 4S, obviously you just proved how big of a moron you are by not know how to open a up a link that I had right after that statement. I never claimed Android was faster; I provided evidence with proof. The link is to Gizmodo website that tested speeds of the several phones. try clicking on the link before you open your mouth. LOL, LOL. http://gizmodo.com/5849953/iphone-4s-test-notes-data-speeds-wow-its-slow?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews

Your Google account automatically backs up your contacts, calendar, etc. So that you can pull them onto your families or friends phone, unlike Apple. LOL. You don't need dropbox for this. And what kind of conversations do you need to back up. Is it all the High School girls you are texting.

There are no lawsuits regarding Apple copying Google on the lock screen and notification area, because Google is not a sue happy company like Apple.

Obviously you have never used multi-tasking before on the iPhone 4S. My coworkers 4S always freezes up or lags really bad when he has apps open and tries to use Siri. It takes about 20 seconds to process.

I find it funny how Android owners and Apple Inc. are the exact same. They want to have full control over there devices. Anyone that owns an Apple device is a sheep and likes being told what is good for them and have no control over their own device. They are stuck with one phone release a year and boast about it sales. Android will have over 40 phone available by year ends. How do you think Android sales would be with one phone release a year? Android sales are higher world wide than iPhone, just not in the USA - Google it.

Droid X?

Sunspider Javascript Benchmark
I ran the Sunspider javascript benchmark on both devices. While the benchmark is quite dependent on browser performance, it is also an indicator of CPU ability, as well as a cross-platform benchmark, allowing us to compare both the iPhone 4 and Droid X from a more objective perspective. I used the default browser on each phone for the test.
On average, the iPhone 4 was 1.3x as fast the Droid X (click to view detailed test results):
(smaller ms is better)
Droid X – Total: 13,511.2 ms +/- 1.2%
iPhone 4 – Total: 10,401.4 ms +/- 1%

http://images.anandtech.com/graphs/droidx_071910234059/23786.png

(For people who cant be bothered to click those links, they all show the iPhone 4 comprehensively beating the Droid X). Seriously Subaru, you just keep on digging yourself into that hole.

Incidentally, those benchmarks also put paid to your other listed phones, which are all also slower. I mean do you not even think before you talk?

'The iPhone 4 processor speed is clocked at 800 mhz, where the other phones clocked at 1 GHZ'

Did you not read the bit where I painfully tried to educate you that despite being 800mhz it was still faster? Or is that another 'complex' facility you can't understand.

'They like a simple interface, for there simple minds'

Can a non 'simple mind' not work the iPhone? (You complete moron, lol) As Einstein said, everything should be as simple as possible, but not simpler.

'When I stated Android has up to 8 times faster internet than the iPhone 4S'

LOL. I can't believe you re-posted and tried to defend that statement. It doesn't matter what the accompanying link said, the statement is ridiculously stupid, illogical and downright incorrect all on its own. I really shouldn't have to explain why it was stupid, in some ways that makes you even more dumb. You see, little boy, Android is not a phone. It's an OS, in numerous phones, hundreds of which don't have 4G and have very slow internet. Do you understand yet? Probably not, huh?

'Your Google account automatically backs up your contacts, calendar, etc'

But Google doesn't back up your documents, and neither backs up your IM conversations over your phone. And neither is seamlessly integrated. Now you're splitting features between two, non integrated services, and still failing to match the feature set. Both of which, I may add, iPhone users can use in ADDITION to iCloud. You seem to forget that Dropbox and Google work on iPhones.... so if they want to make folders public, they easily can too. It's so strange that you don't get that.

'And what kind of conversations do you need to back up. Is it all the High School girls you are texting'

So now because I don't judge my purchases on what teenage girls buy, I'm texting them? Yeah you're a logical one ;-)

'Google is not a sue happy company like Apple' - ROFL. Yeah, Google has never sued anyone. Google is a nice guy, lets invite him round to dinner. It's not because they don't have a case, or anything. Google doesn't like free money and encourages people to infringe on its patents and copyright.

'Obviously you have never used multi-tasking before on the iPhone 4S. My coworkers 4S always freezes up or lags really bad when he has apps open and tries to use Siri. It takes about 20 seconds to process'

LOL Yeah, the magical story where 'my friend has X' and it takes 1 hour to turn on etc etc etc bla bla bla, it's amazing how that NEVER happens to any reviewers. And never happens to me on my slower iPhone 4 either. I mean come on that's just weak. You may aswell claim you live on the moon and your dog likes to eat moondust. A claim from an idiot who doesn't know the difference between a phone and Android is not credible.

'Anyone that owns an Apple device is a sheep and likes being told what is good for them and have no control over their own device'

See, i've never understood this failed logic. I've been able to do far more with my iphone than I ever could have with an Android. You seem to think that iOS being closed is somehow bad, but don't actually know why. You come up with lame statements like 'no control over their own device' I mean please. I don't need to install faster ROMS because I have a life and the performance is fast enough already. It does everything I could expect of a smart phone.

' They are stuck with one phone release a year and boast about it sales. Android will have over 40 phone available by year ends. How do you think Android sales would be with one phone release a year? Android sales are higher world wide than iPhone, just not in the USA - Google it.'

Android is open source, it's free, and comes with drawbacks as a result, Android again, is not a phone. I've already stated that Android OS phones will sell more than iOS phones, but that doesn't change anything? The iPhone 4S is still the best selling phone of all time, regardless of how many manufacturers combined manage to just about sell more.. Apple also makes the most profit (not that this is relevant) ' google it ' LOL.

You're adorable, you're delusional. 40 worse phones just about managing to outsell arguably the best phone (iPhone 4S) right now, and you think that's some kind of victory. Lower profit, split 40 ways, to use an OS which isn't tightly integrated to the phone and lags as a result.. and an app store so open you get viruses and security leaks all the time. You are tragic!

First, at the time of the Engadget review I think that the Galaxy S wasn't available in the US. Secondly it's the authors opinion, here's another opinion from the same website that prefers the Galaxy S

http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/22/samsung-galaxy-s-review-shootout-captivate-for-atandt-and-vibrant/

Secondly, did you even noticed that the iPhone4 was not the fastest on the benchmarks you posted? The Droid 2 and the Nexus One, both phones are slower than the Galaxy S, were faster than the iPhone 4 on the first two benchmarks. The iPhone 4 was only faster in the WiFi performance.

Please peruse all the 9 links I posted already explaining to retard number 2 when he spouted the same nonsense.

The Nexus one is the only phone which actually wins benchmark wise (despite being a total fail in every other department), and the one none of you mentioned (probably because you knew it was a fail).

And I was hoping I wouldn't have to school you on this but Droid 2 came out 2 months later.

;-)

Wow, really amazing comments here.

"I like to use my benchmark app everyday. I whip out my phone and say "BAM!! Look at my benchmark score! It beats your crappy little iphone lol!". But as the day goes on, I notice how people don't seem to share in the excitement of me having the most gigahertzes. They seem to do normal stuff with their phone like doing stuff that actually does stuff. Lame I know, when you could rather be using your phone for more meaningful purposes like showing how much better it is than anything else. I love my android phone, but only after waiting weeks to actually get a version from my manufacturer or having to remove stuff off it to make it like a normal android, and then "BAM" I'm back in your face, telling you how much better I am and how much better my phone is than yours!"

Wowzees, do people actually use their phones for meaningful things nowadays? Everytime I look at these toms comments, its just a whole lotta nothing, because you know what, no one cares at the end of the day how much better your phone is when the look you in the eyes and realize you're just another sad, sad fanboy trying to justify how much better you are after having to extend you intelligence and self esteem to a meager electronic device.
