[citation][nom]New iphoners[/nom]Why does everybody think that all the customers are upgrader from IP4? I am quite sure that most of them are buying their first IPhone. All those people who were waiting for the new generation are buying now.[/citation]

Why was this thumbed down? I'm one that's seriously looking at my 1st iPhone since I've been a Palm owner for years. Many PDA's over the years then the Pre+ on Verizon almost 2 yrs ago. Been waiting for a year for the Pre3 until HP basically killed the Palm phones. I had data that moved almost seamlessly from the PDA's like the T3 to the Pre+ so the iPhone was not the right tool for me 2yrs ago. AT&T coverage was not as good for me as Verizon so again no iPhone. When Verizon pickup iPhone, I could not use my Free-Every-2-year special on Verizon (ie: only 1yr into ownership) and the Pre3 looked very promising. So as soon real folks actually have the 4S in use for a month or so, I'll be in the time frame for the 2yr upgrade and will make my choice then, but its looking very good for the 4S.

[citation][nom]otacon72[/nom]..and in a few months when the iP5 comes out I'll be laughing my ass off at all these jokers who are stuck with the 4s for 2 years on contract.[/citation]

Serious question: Have you really heard that the iPhone5 is coming out in "a few months" cause I haven't and would like to know since I'm waiting a couple of months in order to get my upgrade price (see prev post above) on whatever phone is best for me at that time and I could wait one more month or so after that for the 5.

If you really didn't mean it that way maybe it would have been better to say "if" vs "when"

[citation][nom]beardguy[/nom]Usually the iPhone hate here on Toms is out of control. But this is a prime example of people acting like sheep upgrading to a "new" phone that's almost the same as the iPhone 4. What a waste of money.[/citation]

Ever stopped and thought about the fact that there are still allot of 3g and 3gs users?

[citation][nom]amdwilliam1985[/nom]People, we need to realize that, this might be the first time in the history of computing that we have more than enough computing power for 99% of the society out there already. There are no difference between that single core/dual core or coming up quad core for most of the people out there. They don't care or need those computing power.Look of the product has become the #1 decision maker in buying any technology gadget now.[/citation]

looks is only ok for people with mental deficiancies.
single core can barely surf the web (desktop/laptop, its ok on a phone)

[citation][nom]your all wrong[/nom]siri is not a gimmick. it is by far the most advanced voice command technology yet and light years beyond any other voice command. i have been using it all day and am confident that i will continue using siri every day until i don't have it.[/citation]

ill give you the fact it recognizes words with accuracy, but go over and use dragon for a few days, teach it, only reason i don't use it is i don't have the ram to keep it running 24/7

I find it funny that the class of some of the posters is quite low. What is with the name calling. Does it matter that someone you don't know owns something that they will personally use? Isheep and Android sheep are all the same. They both have obsessions, why can't we just accept other peoples purchasing decisions and not make a fuss about superiority.

ign recorded a quick test of Siri, and it seems to work pretty well. I especially like the response to, "Siri, how do you hide a dead body?"...

"What kind of place are you looking for? ...Dumps? ...Swamps? ...Reservoirs? ...or metal foundry's?"

...damn, lol.

I am surprise the Andriod user only concern is the look of the phone.
Oh yeah the only thing SGS2 win now is different looking phone as their hardware are no longer an advantage.
i wonder are they really tech savy as they claimed

This proves that people prefer function over latest and greatest not proven.

I for one, like being able to use my iPhone with 9%% uptime. This is not the same story I get from my co-workers that use Android devices which seem to crash randomly anytime something important comes up.

If Samsung would adopt a similar practice of release a new phone every year, instead of every month, then maybe they can work out a lot of the issues they have.

The only thing I have to say is thank you to all the Android users, without you, the iPhone wouldn't be where it is today.

I upgraded two iPhone 4's to the new 4S's. LOL at idiots thinking it's not much of an upgrade. What then, do you say about the Galaxy S to S2? Single core to dual core, slightly better screen and.....oh yeah, 5MP to 8MP camera. The differences between a 4 and 4S are about the same as an S to S2, yet people think the S2 is a fabulous upgrade.

The new camera is not a must-have, but is nice. Siri is also nice, especially for people like me who use their phones while driving. The A5 is a huge upgrade. Just don't benchmark a 4S against an S2 if you own an S2 and find out your "world class phone" at 1.2GHz can't even outperform an iPhone running at a mere 800MHz.

Why do idiots assume everyone that has an IPhone 4 is upgrading to 4S?? I don't know anyone with an IPhone 4 that upgraded to the 4S. All the people I know and see that are upgrading to the 4S have the 2 year old 3GS or older. That's a very nice upgrade.

Really, how many people the same smart phone more then two years these days?

[citation][nom]Marthisdil[/nom]Siri is a gimmick. My Android phone has better voice commands with better recognition.[/citation]

ahh.... [citation][nom]johnners2981[/nom]Why are the phones selling out, I thought everyone was disappointed because it wasn't an iphone 5. Sheep people[/citation]

Hmm... maybe its your lack of thought that causing your problem....

Hehe look at the Android fanbois whine. Yes, people are buying iPhone4s despite the fact it looks exactly like iPhone4 because they want the features and performance.

[citation][nom]Marthisdil[/nom]Siri is a gimmick. My Android phone has better voice commands with better recognition.[/citation]

No it doesn't.

[citation][nom]soo-nah-mee[/nom]When Android fans "bust a load" over a new exciting product, it's something like a Galaxy S II or Nexus Prime that has some pretty substantial improvements over their predecessors.Personally, I think WP7 Mango is a much better user experience then iOS5 (My wife and I have both an HTC 7 Pro WP7 phone and an iPod Touch gen4 + she HAD an iPhone 3GS). The only reason I keep my iPod is because the app store is amazing and there are games (and Pandora) on it that WP7 doesn't have yet. Save for a pretty sparse app marketplace, the WP7 phones are awesome.[/citation]

Technologically, the iPhone 4S is just as much of an upgrade as the Galaxy S II was. Bear in mind, it is much faster GPU/CPU wise than the Galaxy S2, and has better battery life. The iPhone 4 was not an easy act to follow being the best selling smartphone ever.

[citation][nom]otacon72[/nom]If you actually understood the iSheep you'd know you're wrong. I'll always remember an interview I saw a few years ago when the iPad was just a rumor. They interviewed an iSheep user and he said it didn't what it was or how much it cost but because it had Apple on it he was going to buy it. Pretty much sums up an Apple user.[/citation]

It sums up one Apple user. Not millions of Apple users. Don't make such unfounded generalisations. There are fanatics for all companies, and fanatics for Android too - but that doesn't mean all Android owners are crazy.

Indeed.
