The iPhone wont have RDS either. Anyone know what that is....nope, just like NFC. If you are going to write an article on something that only 3 people in the world has heard of. Um....tell us what the heck it is...

As it is, this article means absolutely nothing to me...

I come away with some links to some cool shirts though....

If they can't even get the clock to do proper daylight savings on their current phones how are they supposed to implement something new that actually works?

No ty crapple - Once the brand meant quality both in hardware and software but today its just rubish made at the cheapest possible price and features that will force the customers to upgrade (no replacable batteries ect). Also featuring as restricted access as possible from any source beside their own "eco-system". Heck i hope the sheeps wake up!

[citation][nom]fleeb[/nom]And yet, when Apple does implement NFC, it becomes an innovation?(Of course, at this point in time they don't want to for the reason stated in this article, but sooner or later they would.)[/citation]
Ok i think they are waiting until some better security system is invented. either way EVERY company out there brags about their products! Have you ever seen a commercial? Its like your isolating apple so you dont have to realize that cockiness is part of capitalism.

This is already used for things like keys almost everywhere, hotels, offices.. etc. As for credit cards, we already do that here in Canada at some locations. Mastercard has an agreement with Canada's largest coffee chain where you basically just lay your card against the machine and you're good to go. Shell and Esso (Canadian Exxon) use their own key fobs with credit cards linked to them for the same thing.

[citation][nom]nebun[/nom]the Japanese people are a little better educated, and more respectful[/citation]
Yeah, but they LOOOVE kiddie porn. They are also working the hardest on making sex robots. It's sick.

....... im speechless, i am at Tom's Hardware right, this technology has been well established, what the hell do you lot call Tap and Go, it's a tried and tested technology, secure transactions are encrypted so even if you remotely manage to intercept the data you cant do anything with it anyways, yes the security is not perfect but it's not exactly a bucket of holes either, if it was easy to exploit this it would have been done by now

walk into your local MacDonald you see they got tap and go pay terminals, Starbucks, Taco Bell to name but a few

NFC allows for more then just monetary transaction, in theory you can share calendar, maps, SMS, pictures

nerds arent just what they used to be........;p

Prices India
It's basically technology for technology's sake, i can't see it taking off in phones for a while so i can actually see why Apple are refraining for now.

[citation][nom]hoofhearted[/nom]I am not crazy about making my money more easily removed whether by a criminal or even myself. If a criminal steals an iPhone, all he has to do it bump it? Maybe cam you with his own iPhone beforehand while entering your pin???[/citation]
that would be about the same as someone camming your pin when you use a debit card and stealing that...

[citation][nom]icemunk[/nom]Great.. another closed Apple system, instead of following the NFC standard that all the other companies are joining. Greedy Apple.[/citation]

What exactly do you think Visa is? A closed system of making secure payments utilizing their technology. So calm down brah. Apple hateraid isn't cool.

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]standard = it works everywhere, cross platform.in the us, i dont believe there is a set standard, if apple makes one, and get the rights to it, they make more money. personaly i would rather a third party handle this and not apple, because they have a history of f@#$ing us over price wise, last thing i would want is to be forced to have an apple anything to do something not apple related. if you want, you can think of it kind of like a bar code. yes people can steal it, potentially... in japan its used for things like train fair and such, to make everything run smoother. i don't think you will see it on credit cards for quite a while, or at least until we all get electronic credit cards, a technology that is already used today and its relitivly cheap. encode the credit card, hold a button to decode it, this way unless the button is pressed the code is useless, and you have to be really close to read anything, so yea.[/citation]

The technology would probably be implemented very closely to the way the major credit card companies are. It would be invisible cost-wise to us(exactly like the app store..), and apple would pass the fee onto the person your buying from.. Exactly the way Visa/Mastercard/Discover/etc do it. They charge the business a certain amount to "rent" the card-reader, as well as to transfer payments. Visa, last I checked, charged on the order of 3-6% of each bill for the service.

Not a big deal people. Move along now.

man i could see the life of criminals will get easier, just steal someones phone, buy what ever where ever and dump the phone in some ignorant fools automobile after the purchase, all before the cops have time and get the gps from the cell company and find it. brilliant!

I really do enjoy the broad paranoia with regards to ignorance on the matter. Relax people. It's not Y2K. It's not 2012. It's not big brother. It's the world continuing to progress, as it has, and always will. You don't like it? Don't use it. Simple enough. I've said that many times, will say it many more. Put your money where your mouth is.

[citation][nom]tburns1[/nom]Yeah, but they LOOOVE kiddie porn. They are also working the hardest on making sex robots. It's sick.[/citation]
lol, you are so funny.....let's say that you are wright, it only aplies to a very small percentage of people.....i am sure the US has a lot more perverts, including yourself.

i have been to japan a few time, and i can tell you that we the US people should be looking up to them

"According to the Independent, the company is said to be working on its own own NFC proposition, which would link payments through iTunes, and it plans to introduce the technology in a 2012 handset"....I'm good on that.

I'm really surprised that no one has said this yet. Mastercard in the United States already utilizes the bump to pay or NFC. It's called PayPass. I've been using it for over a year now. Most places accept is as well. This isn't anything new at all.

Keep in mind the US is the largest producer of child pornography, and that Japan has the lowest rate of child sex abuse in the OECD world.
