[citation][nom]tenor77[/nom]I'll laugh if they make a PS2 emulator[/citation]That would be awesome!
[citation][nom]TheDuke[/nom]that would be hilarious. if they do then son many middle fingers would be pointed at sony for not having support for ps2 games anymore[/citation]And one of those middle fingers would be mine!

And PC gaming is for suckers. The never ending driver issues, constantly having to shell out hundreds of dollars on new video cards just so you can have a decent frame rate, dealing with Windows in general, etc. I used to game on my pc but I got tired of having to upgrade and update my pc every 2 months. I buy the PS3 and it's done. I think a PC puts out better graphics but the cost is just not worth it. So much easier to just buy the game and know it will work on the console.

If only they'd give me a real keyboard/mouse for the console, while I agree with most of what you said, I just can't stand console controllers, they feel so... unnatural compared to the keyboard/mouse I've spent the last 15 years gaming with.

Oh yeah. Playing COD MW2 is hard. I used to play on a pc and the keyboard/mouse combo was better for that type of gaming but I have gotten used to the controller now.

Marsax73 what you say makes no sense. Driver issues are for morons who don't even know how to use their PC. I haven't had driver issues since Windows 95. The upgrades you speak of? It's called progress. It's not like on a console where game innovation and graphics are at a stand still for 6 or 7 years after a new console comes out (will probably be 10 years this generation). On a PC, graphics improve, game realism improves. Compare a console game from 6 years ago and one from today, they look the same. Now compare a 6 year old PC game to a recent one and you'll see a big difference... well unfortunately maybe not so much lately because these stupid consoles are killing it all. But show me any console game that can look as good as Crysis, now in its 3rd year and a game developed specifically for the PC. There are none. Hell, even a blatant lame ass console port like Modern Warfare 2 looks 10X better on PC than on any console.

If you actually upgrade every 2 months you must be a an idiot who doesn't know what to buy, which is also the cause of your driver issues. For the rest of us, we can do a partial upgrade every 2 or 3 years and keep up with the progress just fine. And if we choose not to, hey we can always lower the settings on the newer games or install one of the mods which more often than not tend to improve the visuals and the performance, but at least we have the options on a PC.

Enjoy your life of limitations. Don't worry, you won't be forced to make any tough decisions.

Marsax, maybe one day you will be like me and be able to afford both platforms and have the brains to know how to build and upgrade a PC for cheap (it takes a some patience and a little time, both of which it sounds like you obviously don't have). The last rig I built nearly a year ago for just under a grand. The E8400 is overclocked to 4.4GHz and the GTX 275 overclocked about 15%. That rig mows through anything out there right now at 1920 x 1200 resolution, something the PS3 can still only dream about for gaming.

The PS3 (mine is 3 years old with a 500GB hard drive upgrade) has served me well for a lot of things. For the most part the only gaming I do on it is racing games because that controller SUCKS for shooters (Dirt2 - which stutters - NFS Shift, and Motorstorm Pacific Rift). It is a great portable gaming system for business trips and for those inevitable trips to see family to show off pictures and home videos. It also serves as my only BD player. But that's about it.

For real gaming, from FPS to driving to flight simming with FSX, I always revert back to the PC. There is no substitute for graphics and hardware game play that the PS3 can only dream about.

I actually have built my own PC's since the 486 days. I have never owned an OEM pc in my life. I enjoy building my own PC's and I'm currently looking to building a new one with the i5. My post had to do with spending $300 for a console that will play the game you buy and it will look the same for everyone. A few years back, there was the endless debate about which game looked better on which card. Smoke and fog looked great on product A but then shadows, etc looked great on product B. So the choices weren't as easy as just slapping a $200 video card in your pc. Personally, I'd rather put a regular $70 video card in my pc and spend the extra cash on a better processor and motherboard.

As I stated in my comments, I think a properly setup PC will put out better graphics but then a proper gaming pc will at least run you $800-1000. Now there are games that require more horsepower to run and a $1000 rig is not going to cut it. And let's not forget about every year, AMD or nVidia comes out with a better card than before.(ie. more money out of your pocket)

You guys keep pumping dollars into your rigs and I'll be happy with simply putting the games in my PS3 (for the next 5 years) and not having to spend an extra dime for upgrades.

You do make some valid points about the drawbacks of pc gaming..
but like many have stated.. pc gamers should know what they are getting into. Consoles have the luxury of proprietary hardware.
I think Windows 7 does a decent job of creating a console like feel and stability for games.. but its still up to the game programmers to fully utilize the power of the pc and work out quality control issues. I feel recently that some game companies have become lazy and decided to skip pc support all together. If console companies want my dollars.. they need to add keyboard and mouse support to their next gen systems.. and start making games that fully utilize them..not some dumbed down fps that was made for a controller.

[citation][nom]gerohmygosh[/nom]They do buy people off and welcome them to the company as long as they are successful.[/citation]

haven't heard any offers being made to c4eva and progress is always being made on xbox360.

and people waiting for the ps3 to be hacked, have fun downloading 25GB+ isos. that takes some time and the media isn't cheap either. I'm entirely not interested in it at all. Plus xbox360 can do everything that a lousy ps3 can do. I'm siding with the PC guys here. PC is still better than console and if you have driver issues, you pretty much purchased the wrong hardware. Don't blame it on PC in general nor Microsoft. I haven't had driver issues besides for very, very old outdated hardware that barely anyone uses any more. Heck, even Windows 7 supports both of my old logitech web cameras and I would say that it doesn't have to.

I guess I have moved on with gaming on a console. Hell it took me 3 years to finally break down and buy a PS3. The slim came out and the better price so I couldn't resist. Everybody does what they want. I just got tired of pumping money into a pc because game developers wanted to push the envelope and it required more memory, faster GPU's, more processing power. At least with a console, the parameters have been set in stone and they have to push the limitations on their end. 3-4 years ago, were we talking about quad cores, 4-6 gigs of memory, 64bit OS' becoming mainstream? The PS3 has not changed and won't change for the next 3-4 years. So basically, 7-8 years of no upgrades other than firmware here and there.

Will do, thanks! I'm not hurting for money. Besides, I'll also continue to enjoy all the free downloadable mods for all my current and future PC games too. And when the PS4 comes out in a few years, I'll buy one of those too and delegate the PS3 to a BD player.

"Now there are games that require more horsepower to run and a $1000 rig is not going to cut it."

That is blatantly false unless you want to run 2560x1600 graphics and something insane like triple SLI. Several tech sites out there have run articles building a $1,000 gaming rig that can run the latest games at 1680x1050 or even 1920x1200 resolutions.

In any event, nothing beats the best of both worlds at one's disposal at any time. But to your point, a PC can't compete on a console in dollars/performace/fun factor. That's a given. But then again, you are talking about two completely different kinds of markets even though they may share the same games (and again, Dirt2 stutters a LOT on the PS3).

well there is actuallly a ps2 emulator that is able to run almost any ps2 game... with a decent machine... PCSX2... is on early stage, but you can play god of war, or final fantasy X with a decent modern processor...

[citation][nom]captaincharisma[/nom]technically it would just show that someone can make a better PS2 emulator than sony. that is if the reason they got rid of the PS2 emu in later consoles was it was horrible[/citation]

The PS2 "emulator" in the earlier PS3's was hardware-based (esentially a PS2 crammed into the PS3), hence why it cost so damn much (along with Cell, Blu-Ray and XDR RAM).

Bravo to Hotz for this exploit, and gaining Hypervisor level privileges through the linux kernel, WAY TO GO!!
Now as for PC gaming being for suckers, i hugely disagree, i think people are getting too complacent with what marketing and companies like sony are telling the public, hence why a lot of these console fanatics start these flame wars and spoil things for others.
Do we actually know for sure with benchmarks which out of the Xenon and CellBE is the faster CPU, and same for the RSX and Xenos GPUs?...Maybe with Hotz exploit people can perform benchmarks, i hope so, as speculation doesn't mean much without actual proof to back it up.

PC Gaming requires some knowledge to know how to wield it properly, where as console gaming is all plug and play out of the box, personally i'm for both as gaming is meant to be fun.
Hardware wise, the consoles have obsolete hardware compared to the latest PCs as far as processors, GPUs and memory are concerned, it's only those who can't be bothered to learn about computers who complain about having to manually configure or update something to play something they can just plug in out of a box.

The Age old debate over PC vs. Console. Well, i personally do both. Depends on what im getting into though. If i feel lazy ill download a game from steam on my system, if im feeling more of a party type gaming experience with some friends ill just buy it for the console and game that way. In my personal experience in the console arena though hacks are few and far between, however they are around, and im sure it will get polluted soon enough... sad as that is, however knowledge is power they say 😛 As far as PC being better than current gen consoles for gaming, well i have to disagree with that entirely, equal to maybe, but certainly not better. Thats not to say that cant change in the future but as it stands, i would say equal. As much as i hate to say this too it looks as if some people have started to abandon thier PC's in favor of consoles. This could be for any number of reasons, however most of my online gaming has been abandoned on PC in favor of the consoles just for the sheer fact that thier arent as many hackers so the games are more entertaining for me that way, but to each thier own. I know for me i did my fair share of "illegitimate gaming" on my PC, but i had more fun learning how the hacks work and working on cracks then i ever did actually putting them to use.
