Is a Samsung soundbar compatible to an LG Smart tv?

I have purchased a Samsung Sound Bar to fit to a new LG Smart TVs but cannot get it to work, are they compatible?

Model numbers would help us help you.
If you can make the audio connection between the TV and soundbar then it should be a matter of selecting that input on the soundbar, turning off the TV speakers, and setting the TV audio output to be compatible with the soundbar.
