Hi Guys,

First of all I'm from India, where you won't get a great gaming laptop for a tight budget unlike in US. Everything tech is overpriced here.

Anyway, I recently found a Asus GL552VX in amazon with the following specs

  • i7 6th Gen (6700HQ)
2.6 GHz with Turbo Boost Upto 3.5 GHz
    Cache is 6MB

    8GB DDR4 RAM (upto 32GB expandable)

    1TB HDD (7200RPM)
    SSD can be added

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M (N16P-GT) 4GB DDR5

    Battery - Li-ion Battery 4 Cells

Display - Full HD LED Backlit Ultra Slim Anti Glare Display with 1920*1080 - 15.6"

It has a backlit keyboard too.

So, I want what you people think about this piece?
I'm not a hardcore 24*7 gamer but i wanna play AAA titles that released so far and the ones coming out in 1 0r 2 years with reasonable graphic settings.

Is this possible with this model?

The price given in Amazon is 74000 INR which is about 1100 USD. I know there are better laptops in countries like US at this price range but i obviously it's not possible for me.

If there is a better gaming laptop at this price range in India, please don't forget to suggest that.

The GL552VW model is 10000 more expensive which is over my budget.

Hope to solve this soon and help me out guys like you have done before. :)

Yes Its A Very good Gaming laptop

i7 6700Hq : The HQ Series Is Better Than U Series And I Know Cpus Of Laptops Arent As Strong As Personal Computers But It Is Still PowerFul And Can Answer U Well For Fhd Playing On High Settings

Gtx950m : As U Knwo Gtx Series Are For Advanced Gamers And Its Very better Than Gt Series And Can Give U About 45-60 Fps IN AAA Games On Full Hd Resolution

Well u HAve DDR4 Ram Which Is Much Better Than DDR3 And The 8gb Is Good Enough For Playing All OF The Games In The World . Although u can Upgrade It To 32Gb . ITs A Good Advantage :)

Also U Got A 7200Rpm ( The Fastest ) Hdd 1tb ;)

I Suggest U If U Have Money On Budget Add A SSD One To It To Make Ur Laptop A Giant For Playing Games Specially AAA Series :)

Okay, thanks man.

Is there any better laptops you can suggest at this price range?

I'm just afraid the 950m is a little big outdated and I know GPUs cannot be upgraded later. I won't be buying another one for 3-4 years so am i futureproofed? i dont know if that word exists. :p

Well Its Better Than The Asus In More Ram ( Still Can Upgraded To 32Gb ) And U Can Add Ssd In It + It Is Gtx 960m Which Is Better Than Gtx 950m

But Remember 2 Versions Of This One Is Available 2gb Gpu And 4gb Vram Gpu So I Suggest U be careful And AFford The 4gb Vram Version One

I Mean Buy This Gpu : Nvidia Geforce Gtx960m 4Gb GDDR5

Other Things Are The Same :) Better Choice I Guess ;)

That's what confuses me too.

For the MSI model it is 16 GB which is not expandable anymore.
Also the 2GB 960m.

So, are 16GB RAM and 2GB DDR5 960m is enough for a power gamer?
