Just wanted to know since I bought a laptop with the processor and I was wondering if it is getting seriously outclassed by other processors.

4000 series is as good as it gets for mobile processing - the alienwares of this world will always pull out the hottest piece of silicone like the 4940MQ, but your 4700 is no slouch. Also, it's your graphics card that will have the biggest impact on your frames per second - what are you using?

I'm using a GT 740M, I've heard it is like the equivalent to a GTX 200 something :/

Your CPU/GPU combo is the same as mine. It isn't particularly powerful but I have been able to play most all games at least on low. With the setup though messing with the resolution is your friend. It does make a difference on getting decent frame rates.
