Is it anything major when my computer shows white screen

Just recently I had to take out the battery in order for the white screen to stop flashing
on my laptop ? What is the problem, should I be concerned ?

Yes, what happened, what caused it ? Is it running normally and you get normal display with flash on top of it ? Possibly dead display and/or video adapter.
